| The flag of the Confederate States of America, or rebel flag, or whatever else you wish to call it.
Is it racist? Does it stand for racism? Did it ever? The answer is no. To me, it just reminds me of the Civil War. It does not remind me of slavery. So why such an overreaction about it?
They pulled The Dukes of Hazzard off the air because it's "racist". Just because the car has the flag on its roof, and takes place in an imaginary county in Georgia.

| Let's understand the flag in question. It is not the official flag of the confederate states. It had nothing to do with it's government. This flag was the Northern Virginia Battle Flag. It had nothing to do with slavery. It was for troops so they would have a rally point. It was also used to direct troops. If they put up the real confederate flag everyone would think it was a foreign flag. That was one of three flags. | |

| The Confederacy used the "Stars and Bars", which was their official flag, but it was to hard to tell it from the stars and stripes without a stiff wind. That is why they adopted the battle flag for all troops, it was easy to distinguish from the US flag in the field. People are so dumb they don't realize lots of states have flags based off the "Stars and Bars".... Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas, and others did in the past. Yet people don't even know that the "Stars and Bars" was the confederate flag so the only one they complain about is Mississippi that has the battle flag in the field of their state flag.
No the Confederate flags are not racist. The Confederacy was pro state rights, which included each state deciding on slavery, but the war was not about slavery, it was about state rights and the take over of the Union by the fed. Interestingly enough when the so called Civil War ended (it was actually a Revolutionary War), the Union troops had not only defeated the Confederacy, but they had defeated the Union as well. After the war the Union (sovereign countries united not unlike the EU) ceased to exist, the States (which means sovereign countries) became provinces to THE STATE (the federal government). Since then the states have been states in name only. There is no Union, the final nail was the fourteenth amendment that made all newborns citizens of THE STATE instead of a citizen to the individual state they were born in like in the past. Before the war this country was referred to as "these United States", after it became The United States. The Union ceased to exist, the States ceased to exist as States, and since then there has only been one STATE. The country the founding fathers created hasn't existed since the end of that war. The fiction that that country still exists is used to control the masses, just as the fictions that the Confederate flag stands racism and the "civil war" was about slavery do. Lincoln claimed he wanted to "preserve the Union", but he destroyed it completely, something the Confederacy could never have done simply by seceding.

| I never asked anyone what History they thought they knew. Simply your thoughts of the flag in question, and the reactions. | |

And I answered that. Did you miss this; "No the Confederate flags are not racist", or was telling what the flag actually stands for to confusing to you? What better way to back up my statement that it isn't racist then to explain what it actually stands for? If a person doesn't know the history of the flag, then they have no clue what it stands for. Sorry, if you wanted just a generic 'yes or no' answer you should have made this a poll. Let me give you what you want.... ANSWER: "NO"

| The swastika has been around for thousands of years. Until Hitler it was not a racist flag. Has the flag become racist? Well the KKK democrat organization adopted the flag. Turning it into a symbol of racism like Hitler did. Now does that mean everyone that flies it is racist? Depends on what you are flying it for. | |

| Actually anything can be seen as racist. If you say brown bagging it that is now considered racist. People do not even know the meaning of racism anymore. | |

Brown bagging is racist now? I brown bagged everyday middle school through part of high school. Is it racist to come from a middle class family now?

| Sadly enough, I believe that's the real problem. Ignorance, and the desire to demonize something meaningful. | |
