He then added that he and the current administration “inherited a god-awful mess.”

After he wraps up his time with Feingold, Biden will visit the Gulf Coast on Tuesday to survey the damage caused by the BP oil spill.

I find it interesting that Biden says, at this stage of the game, that 'they inherited this god awful mess', when although there WAS a Republican PRESIDENT the final four years (heck, the final 8 years before Obama), it was a Democrat MAJORITY congress the final two years, the two years the economy started to TANK!
So, would someone PLEASE explain why he would say something so silly as this?

Yes, a Democratic majority that faces a filibuster to every single piece of legislation introduced in the senate. Lots of opportunity to change things there with guys like liebermann and nelson there to kill your supposed filibuster proof majority. Both sides had a hand in this mess, but one side more than the other. Hold on, I've got something in my throat ::coughs::republicans::coughs::

Um I sure they didn't filibuster everything. Snow and Collins have caved on a bunch of stuff Stimulus spending anyone.

Yes Vulcan, EVERYTHING. Collins and Snow, as well as some others, have broken the filibuster on occassion but it has been used far more in this congress than any other in history. Once the next congress comes into session Biden needs to state that the new congress is not a continuing body and therefore they can change the senate rules to adjust the filibuster or just outright do away with it all together. This will take it out of the Democrats hands also but I think it should be done away with. It undermines our system of majority rule. The reason we have elections is to elect officials to govern, not to stand in the way on purely partisan and political ideologies.
