Thought it was a little slow. Did not like the lighting on the set and they could have done a far better job with the outside of the ship.

I'll start the episode discussion tonight around 1900hrs EST. By that time, even those who DVR'd it should have watched it, if they wanted to.

The pace was fine, as they had a lot to accomplish. They had to establish the premise, establish their world, establish several mysteries (the memory wipe, the deleted data, the big metal door, the puzzle box, etc.), and introduce seven different characters, none of who have any recollection of who they are or how they got on board – and thus possess no frame of reference from which to draw from, and much more. All in just 43 minutes.

By lighting on set, I presume you are talking about the Raza, as the Colony was filmed on location. What did you expect from emergency lighting? As the android explained, the ship is suffering from significant damage to all systems for an unknown reason. Add to it, the ship also drifted through a meteor shower causing even more damage, and breaching the hull in several places.

What do you mean they could have done better with the outside?

It just seemed the ship was a little dark. Normally a bad sign. It might pick up I will give it a few more eps. But the notion they were killers and now want to do the right thing? Man that is going to be a hard one to explain.

Well now that we are in strange waters, several things come into question. We know neither the Ferris Corp or Mikkei Combine had anything to do with what happened to the Raza and her crew. We also know neither would ever tell the GA they had any sort of dealings with or knowledge of the Raza or crew. That means we have another player we don't know of yet.

Obviously 5 does not fit in. But I think there's much more to it. I think she is the reason everyone's memory got wiped. Although nobody has said anything, they seem protective over her for some reason. 2 tells her to hide before the Ferris Corp Commander boards the Raza. Even the android tells her one day she might be thankful nobody knows she is on board the Raza.

So at this point, I think if they figure out who the girl is, they'll find out who wiped their memories and why.

I think you are right 5 either had something to do with it. Maybe she had a come to Jesus meeting or she knows who did.

Thankfully, this show is aimed at a Canadian audience, NOT American, so there is none of the trappings usually associated with "American" Sci-Fi. By that I mean no religions, politics, America, USA, blah, blah.

What I meant by my post, is it seems 5 is having "visions" of someone else's memories. Nobody has any, including herself. So whose are they? And she said the memory wipe was intentional, because she "saw him" upload the program, after they were in stasis.

So that is the "third player" I refer to. And 5 is key to finding out who "he" is.

Probably somebody, or a group, behind that big door they can't open.

Are they clones? Now I am confused.

Yeah, I think so. Obviously they are not unique, and the 'other' Jace has his memories, or so it appears, so I'm thinking the ones on the ship are clones. That explains why they have no memories, they never did anything to form memories. The things they do know, like language, fighting, flying space ships, etc are all skills that could have been programmed into them as they grew. The question now is, why were they grown? To be killed off so the authorities would think they were dead? Spare parts? (probably not or why bother giving them skills) Or maybe somebody else cloned them for some other purpose.

Now that we see there is another Jace, and presumably the rest as well, it makes me wonder if the #'s really were crew or just cargo.  Maybe the the real crew are aliens like those miners thought, and they are hiding or sleeping or something behind those big doors. Maybe the #'s were just cargo that were not meant to wake up when they did, but the ship woke them when the alarms went off. I'm thinking there is something scary hiding behind those doors.

Could they have been cloned to fight the real ones?

I'm not sure the Jace on the station is the real one. He doesn't know enough.

So now I will have to DVR for an hour so I can speed through the commercials.

Outside of backgrounds, some more pressing questions:

What role does the Galactic Authority play? Their authority is not absolute, nor is their jurisdiction everywhere. So where do they get their "authority"?

With mere seconds before he murdered her, why did 3 spare 5's life?

Why was everybody in stasis in the beginning?

What's the big deal with accessing extra-dimensional space? It was enough to murder an entire homeless community, so what gives?

Who is 1 really, and why the ruse? Clearly he never intended to wipe his own memory, so what happened?

So now it's a matter of finding out who 2 is. I'm still sticking with she used to be GA. As for who wiped their memories, based off the clues 5 gave us, it was a male, and she saw him just before stasis froze them, so he was onboard after they headed to the colony.

The males of the Raza have already been ruled out, so he has to still be there, or left, either to the colony, or a station recently visited.

But why? The only thing that makes sense, is because of 5. If you recall, they obviously saw her steal the card, and traced her back to that homeless community. As there was no was to know who she might have talked to or shown the card, they murdered everybody. Then they saw her and TJ board the Raza.

So somebody else boarded the Raza to get the card 5 stole back, with the added directive to take care of any knowledge of it. As nobody on the Raza knew of it yet and they were alive when they left the station, murder was out of the question. Also there was the android to deal with.

Then an opportunity presented itself. For some reason everybody, including the android, went into stasis. Simply wipe everybody's memory, then wipe the ships memory. Find the card, and done.

But that didn't work out. So what is their next move? So far, only 5 is aware of the potential threat, but isn't saying anything. And all we have seen so far, is the backgrounds of the characters revealed.

After tonight's episode, I'll post teasers on the last three eps of the season.

Ok peeps, the wait is almost over. Season 2 of Dark Matter airs next Friday (1 July).

This has been a wild ride in production. I can't wait to see it.

Can you expect to be "blown away"? Absolutely!

Still like the Killjoys best. Cannot wait for both of them to start. On vacation for three weeks.

I keep getting asked is One really dead. Very much so. No clones, trickery or any of that. But remember, the actor also plays Jace Caruso, the man who murdered him (One). So he has not left the show.

And what of Six? He stays in stasis for a while.


Why this happened is clear. All we knew of the Corporations, is they were competing with each other. It's much more than that, and deadlier. One owned one when his Father was killed. But he didn't figure out what was going on before he was killed too.

Six was figuring everything out, and figured he was also going to be killed.

SDCC is over, and the DM panel gave plenty of teasers. In the next 9 episodes, we get more space battles, high tech weapons, lots of SFX, Aliens, and even a visit to what was once Earth now called "Terra Prime".

7 episodes into the season, and I am totally pleased. It has been even better than I thought it would be. 6 More to go, so bring on the Aliens!

Well it's official. Dark Matter gets a third season.

Well cast and crew were given notice. Come next month everybody heads back to Toronto to start work on Season 3.

Some teasers for the next two eps that air this Friday:

11: "Wish I'd spaced you when I had the chance". The focus will be on 5.
12: "Sometimes in life you don't get to choose". The focus is on 4.

Thus far, they delivered all they promised and then some.

Well somebody screwed up. While JM was in Japan, he got an E-mail that royally pissed him off. What ever this guy did, it caused JM to have to rewrite all the season 3 scripts that they finished last season. That in turn put production behind schedule, and close to being over budget.

But it seems this guy wasn't finished. He went on to further piss off every producer in the industry. Apparently he doesn't want to work in entertainment anymore.

I know what you're wondering. Did this guy damage the show? Yeah, I think so. JM won't say who it was, or what they did.

Production picks up next month.

Well here is something interesting. The cast is back in Toronto getting ready to film. Except Melanie Liburd is not there. She played Nyx Harper. I'm guessing she stays dead.

Got an update on Melanie. It seems she got hired to play in another show. As she is filming as we speak, she cannot be there for DM. As her character in the new show is a main character, again I'm guessing Nyx stays dead.

But not to fret fans, because this season they add 2 more characters. Besides when Ryo finds out Nyx was murdered while he was stealing the blink drive, he'll know exactly who did it. Things won't go well for Misaki when he does.

Production picks up this week when everybody returns from the holiday break.
