"After the mysterious death of an art restorer at the Sleepy Hollow Historical Society soirée, Ichabod and Katrina are reminded of a dear friend from their past -Abigail Adams. Meanwhile, Abbie is shocked by Captain Irvings visit to the police precinct."
I thought this was kind of a weird, even for this show, episode. That whole killer coming out of the painting thing was kind of meh, I know I've seen the concept done before although I can't say where or when offhand. But here the whole thing felt kind of pointless. Why did he have to complete the painting inside the painting in order to free himself? After all he was already coming out of the painting to kill people anyway.
I was much more interested in the return of the slain Captain Irving. How is he back? Why is he back? Is he still himself, or something that looks like him? If it is him, is he in control of his own actions? Hopefully we'll see more on that next time instead of another 'monster of the week' episode that falls flat and doesn't advance the series plot.
And of course we also have to wonder; where Henry Parrish? Is he back too? Is he a 'good guy' now as it would appear after killing Moloch, or did he do that for some sinister reasons of his own? I'm sure we'll see him again eventually.
