I am just wondering is it as dangerous and they are saying. Is the Chernobyl type stuff. Or is it not as bad as 3 mile island? Is the news media trying to make it out more then what it is.
From what I heard is if the rods do melt they will never make through the concrete barrier.

I believe the rods can reach temps of over 5000 degrees Fahrenheit, I would think that would degrade the concret with no problem. That is just 3000 degrees below some of the highest rated thermal lances (Burning bar). All the different components of concrete normally crumbles at about 4712 degree Fahrenheit. So, I guess it could conceivably go "melt" through the containment unit.

Yeah but this is NOT Chernobyl! Nowhere CLOSE! What I find interesting is there was a doctor saying that iodine only works on children because of how fast their systems are changing and growing. In ADULTS, however, the benefits are negligible. INTERESTING. :suspect:
