Not exactly new but excellent none the less.

George Washington His Slaves and the Creation of America

It starts with his younger years not giving much thought about selling children slaves and families. But as he fought side by side with them in wars and as he got older his views and respect grew for them. And realised the evil behind slavery and it would have to change in the future.
