Season 1 Ep 01 Empty
PostSubject: Season 1 Ep 01   Season 1 Ep 01 EmptySun Jun 14, 2015 8:12 pm

So at the end we find out nothing is as it seems. Odd the colony thinks the crew of the Raza are bloodthirsty aliens, and claim nobody really knows what they look like. Yet the GA (Galactic Authority) knows exactly what they look like, and who they are. Most wanted is just that. Everybody on the planet knew who Bin Laden was, what he looked like, who wanted him, and why.

So at this point, I think that data was planted.

Season 1 Ep 01 Empty

Was a pretty good pilot. Interesting premise with them all having their memories wiped. As for if the data was planted, it could be... It does seem that somebody wiped both the ships memory and the peoples as well. Given that, it is kind of convenient that they left an android on board who is capable of retrieving some of the data. And of course than you have to wonder if the android is really 'reset' or is she still following some program or receiving orders to deceive the crew on purpose?

On the other hand, what if it is true that they are all super bad guys with their memories intact? Could be interesting to see them struggle with their base morality once the memories, experiences, childhood training, etc that made them act against that morality is removed. Think about it, remove the memories of doing bad things, the cynicism, the simple acceptance of doing more bad because you're used to it, etc and you become kind of an innocent again in mind if not body. And then that perhaps raises the question; did somebody wipe all of their memories to give them an opportunity to become better people? Or as a experiment to see if they'd change? I think this might be the more interesting route for them to take. The crew working to be better people in their fresh start then they were before. Trying to right their past selves wrongs while struggling with the idea that it wasn't really them or was it? If they have no memories of doing those bad things, and are trying to live good lives now, then were they ever really those bad people?

The information could have been planted. They could have actually been the good guys and they are trying to make them the bad guys.

Season 1 Ep 01 Empty

I thought this was pretty good and I am really glad to have a space-based show back on TV again.  A lot of people have been talking about the crappy sfx, but I didn't really notice them being too bad.  I guess I am willing to put up with low-budget graphics in order to have a space opera on tv again.  I might even break out into my happy dance at any time and, really, no one wants to see that.

P.S.

I would like to recommend a show on BBC America that has just started called Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.  It is far and away the best fantasy series I have ever seen.  Fantasy tends to be comic book swords and sorcery.  In contrast this is a period drama about magic returning to England during the time of Napoleon.  The only thing about it - it makes me despair about ever being a quality writer on my own.  My stuff just isn't as good as this is.

Who cares about low budget sfx if the story is good. Babylon 5 had some pretty low budget stuff and was one of the best series ever.
I was only troubled by the ship evading the missiles and the crew was thrown around? Maybe I missed something

The android said that in order to evade the missiles, she'd have to perform maneuvers that could overwhelm and disrupt the artificial gravity on the ship. And when she did it, they were free floating for a minute before it kicked back in and they fell.

I say this might get better the more we learn. I like the premise but hopefully they can speed things up.
