The Motor City

Back when I left Michigan, I knew I'd never return to live there. As far back as the 70's and 80's I saw the automotive industry leaving. Music "The Motown sound" already left. There was simply nothing left to stay for. I was thinking of my future, and it looked bleak staying in Michigan.

I still have friends there though. Family as well. It's really bad everywhere in the state. Detroit tried to be what it wasn't, instead of what it was.

Despite my snarkyness, I do feel bad for those people. But this has been coming a long time, and was never hidden from anybody. Hence my description "Told ya so".

The reason Detroit and Michigan are doing so bad is because the rich people abandoned the poor people. Just ask Robert Riechhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

How about this one Bandit?

We refused to throw in the towel and do nothing. We refused to let Detroit go bankrupt. We bet on American workers and American ingenuity, and three years later, that bet is paying off in a big way.”

-- President Obama in his weekly address, Oct. 13, 2012.
