It was a text message that somehow struck a chord in the heart of a thief: Can you please return the stolen car?
And with that plea, a Campbell woman was reunited with her 2004 Toyota one day after it was stolen, according to Santa Clara police.
The woman's vehicle was reported stolen out of Campbell on Nov. 5 and recovered the next day in the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken on El Camino Real in Santa Clara.
The owner's cell phone was inside the Toyota when it was stolen, according to police. The next day, the owner's sister sent text messages to the phone and asked the thief to please return the vehicle.
Before long the sister received a phone call from a man telling her where the car was parked.
The victim found her car in the parking lot and contacted Santa Clara police.
