Starz is going to air Torchwood. They are portraying it as a Starz original series. It will be a remake of the British version. Starz I think has been knocking the series out of the park with Spartacus Camelot and now this.

I don't know. If it's a remake I assume they are going to remove any Doctor references. And then I worry about whether it will be watchable or just a huge gay spectacle. The BBC version kept pushing the whole gay thing in that show to an extent I quit watching. I'm worried Starz will be as bad or maybe worse.

That will determine the success or failure of the show. Two gay characters I have no problem with but if they make it part of the main story then the show is doomed.

I was enjoying the show until they showed two guys kissing. Ugh!
Another show I cast into the cesspool where it belongs...

From what I understand, not having watched on Starz or at all in a long time, the new show is just a continuation of the old one on BBC. BBC decided to not renew it and after about a year the producers got Starz to pick it up. They changed the setting from England to the USA and moved the cast over here, not sure what in show explanation they used but Cpt. Jack was always claimed to be an American, so I'm sure they used that somehow to explain moving his team over here.

But yeah, the whole gay thing put me off, and I'm a huge Doctor Who fan. Hell I've watched every single episode of Who, including the lost ones that exist only as original audio pieced together with still pictures and new narration to explain movements that can no long be seen on screen.

I put up with the gay references to his past loves, etc for the first two or three seasons but then they started having him actually kiss men... the episode where Jack was hardcore frenching James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) was the last straw for me. Not only did it further ruin the Doctor Who spin off, but it also made me lose a lot of respect for Marsters who played one of my favorite characters on Buffy.

I stopped watching after that. I think that was about a season and a half before BBC stopped making episodes. I can only imagine that the sex scenes are even more hardcore on Starz.

James Marsters did that? Damn. I really liked him as Spike in Buffy.

I'm really sick of actors degrading themselves like that, and I lose respect for them when I see it. I was depressed when Stacey Keach and Patrick Stewart joined that putrid bunch, and now James Marsters. Aargh!

It doesn't bother me so much if an actor plays a gay role, as long as they don't actually perform gay acts. It's like an actor playing the role of a child molester, doesn't bother me or make me think less of them as a actor/person... unless they were to actually start frenching or feeling up kids in the movie/show. Same thing with the gay character, it's fine until they actually start being gay as part of the role.

And then you see these actors on tv being asked if they are gay in real life, "No it's just the role I was playing." Of course they fact you were rolling around half naked with another guy and frenching does make you gay. The fact that you don't consider yourself gay in real life means that you did it for the money making you a gay prostitute.
