This silly dog decided to bite a porcupine... ouch.

I have seen that happen in real life. I have seen dogs put down because of it. Not sure what the vet can do about it.

Well they can be pulled out one by one, but with this many I think you'd have to put the dog under first. I saw quills removed from a dog once, but not as many as this. That dog had probably a half dozen or so on the outside left of its muzzle and two on the left nostril. Owner pulled them out one by one with pliers. Each time it hurt the dog, but she really trusted her owner, she cried and whimpered but didn't bite or run.

Since then, I've heard that they are easier to pull if you cut the end off first. Apparently they are hollow and full of air. If you cut the end off, it's supposed to let the inner pressure go which makes them pull out easier. So, if I'm ever faced with having to remove quills, I'll attack them with wire cutters followed by pliers.

If you look they are down his throat. Once that happens it all but over. The vet can put the dog under and remove the quills.
