Happy birthday America. Remember those you gave the ultimate sacrifice for the greatest nation ever built on this earth.

And to those who have made sacrifices, including the ultimate sacrifice if you're seeing this somehow, I hope you can forgive us for what we have done to this once great country you sacrificed so much for.

On this 4th of July as we celebrate our freedom and independence, we need to ask this question:
*** Is freedom still alive and well in America? ***
Is it? How many of our fellow Americans actually bother to oppose despotism anymore?
Right now, it's relatively easy to support liberty. We can do so by simply contacting our congressmen through e-mails or letters, voting, writing letters to newspapers to help awaken our fellow citizens, posting freedom-oriented information on social networking sites such as Facebook, supporting whistleblowers who warn us of illegal government actions and spying (Edward Snowden comes to mind), even going to public rallies. And right now it's easy – it requires no real sacrifice and no danger. But how many Americans are doing these things today? A majority? IMO not nearly enough to turn the widening tide of federal despotism.
And would these same Americans, who are doing little to stop the growth of tyranny while it's still relatively easy, be willing to risk their lives or fortunes in opposing total tyranny, as our Founding Fathers did? If government decided to suspend the Constitution, and went door-to-door confiscating firearms and subversive books and writings such as copies of the U.S. Constitution, how many of us would forcefully resist?
Is freedom still worth fighting for?
Read about the bravery of the men who won us the freedom we're celebrating:

We need to remember those who have served and sacrificed and those that have passed after they served such as my dad who served in WWII under General Patton.

You're confused. Memorial Day is to remember/mourn those of the armed services who died serving the nation.
Veterans Day is to honor those, past and present, that have served the nation in it's armed forces.
